In this post I will show how to make a simple but fun Plus-Plus Tic-Tac-Toe game. I like to share myPlus-Plus ideas on the blog and here is one of them. Further down I included the instructions, soyou can make you own.
Making a Plus-Plus Tic-Tac-Toe game is nothing new, but I wanted my game to be smaller than those I have seen online and this is what I came up with.
Difficulty: Easy
Time estimate: 5 minute build
What you need for this build:
- 45 black
- 36 white
- 25 gold
- 20 silver
These where the colors I used, but feel free to change them how ever you like.
Step by step guide
Time needed: 5 minutes
Let’s make our own Tik-Tac-Toe game
- Cross piece
First game piece is the cross. Pick 5 Plus-Plus blocks (you decide the color) and put together like this.
- Repeat cross 5 times
The cross player goes first and should have 5 pieces.
- Make circle piece
One thing you will learn about Plus-Plus. It’s really hard to make a perfect circle. This is NOT a perfect circle but I think it’s close enough.
Grab 6 Plus-Plus blocks of the same color and make this weird shape. - Repeat circle 4 times
Since cross usually go first you only need 4 pieces. If you want you can make 5 as well, then circle can go first as well.
- Game board
Time for the Plus-Plus game board. This is pretty simple but takes a bit of time to make.
The squares can really be any color, you can also pick 9 different colors to make a rainbow game board. It’s really up to you. I decided to go with a cress board look on this.
Grab 81 Plus-Plus blocks. If you want my design you need 36 white and 45 black.
- Finish Plus-Plus Tic-Tac-Toe
Now find a person you can challenge!
More Plus-Plus ideas to try
You can really do a lot to change up the game. Here are some things to try:
Running Tic-Toc-Toe
In this game both players need to run to a certain place, pick up a single game piece and run back to the game board and place it. Repeat until one player gets 3 on a row. You have to decide quickly otherwise your opponent is going to place more than you. Each team should have at least 5 pieces.
Tip make two different routes, one for cross and one for circle, so you don’t run into each other while playing. Each team can have multiple people, where the next team member gets to run after the other person placed the piece (like a relay race). If one team wins a lot then try to increase the distance they have to run for the game pieces.
Make it bigger!
What would happen if the game board was 16 squares instead of 9? You still need to get 3 on a row, but with the added rule that the game continue until all squares are taken. In the end you count how make 3 on a row you got. A player gets 4 that person wins, otherwise count who get most 3 on a row. You will need more game pieces for this.
Have you tried making a Plus-Plus game before?
