Review Plus-Plus basic colors

Plus-Plus basic colors

When you buy Plus-Plus basic you get 10 different colors and is thereby the biggest of the three major Plus-Plus color schemes (basic, pastel and neon). It includes the following colors blue, gray, green, yellow, red, orange, brown, purple, black and white. In the article I will go though each color and highlight their strengths and weaknesses in term of building and some Plus-Plus ideas you can keep in mind.

This is of course my personal opinion and since we are talking about colors very subjective.

Basic blue Plus-Plus

The basic blue is a brilliant Plus-Plus color with a lot of uses. To name a few ocean, the sky, solar cells and windows. It’s a color that I find myself using a lot. It goes well with the other basic colors with the exception of purple. Purple and blue don’t have a lot of contrast, but it’s not too bad either.

Basic grey Plus-Plus

The gray Plus-Plus color, where should I start? I love it. I make a lot of builds almost entirely out of this color. It’s amazing for space ships or other things out of metal, but also for animals like an elephant, shark or hippo. It just looks great and I wish there was more of them compared to the other colors. The closes comparison would be the silver Plus-Plus, but gray just have more use cases.

Basic green Plus-Plus

Basic gray is a great color, but so is basic green. I often find myself running low on green Plus-Plus blocks, not only because I use it a lot, but also because it looks so good that I don’t want to destroy it afterwords. Green could be used for plants, tanks, dragons, dinosaurs and other animals. It’s a stable color, that is hard to go wrong with. It is not the only green Plus-Plus color, but it might be the best of them in versatility and for that I will have to give it top score.

Basic yellow Plus-Plus

Basic yellow is not a favorite of mine though it have some good use cases. It looks too much like the pastel yellow and it can be hard to tell them a part. However yellow works so well with orange and red, and those colors can be used to make something look like fire 🔥. Another use case can be faces on Plus-Plus figurers, even though I think the tan color look better. Some other Plus-Plus ideas the sun, flowers, duckling, bees and a lot of other animals.

Basic red Plus-Plus

Basic red Plus-Plus, when I see this color I often want to make some kind of vehicle, maybe a car, airplane or maybe even a hot air balloon. It’s the lava on top of the volcano, the rose in the garden or the fire from an engine. It have so many uses and is a very good color in your builds.

Rating 4/5 ⭐

Basic orange Plus-Plus

Basic orange is for me peeks and fleets. I make a lot of bird builds and that is definitely the color to use here, with no good alternative. Other than that you can use it for fire, plant pots, bricks, roof tiles, a guitar, to name a few ideas. Overall a solid color.

Basic brown Plus-Plus

Basic brown is an awkward color to me. It’s great for tree trunks and planks, but I just think it’s, so dark that it almost looks black. If it was a little bit lighter then I think I would use it much more. It have it’s uses tree like mentioned before, soil, hair and skin tone. It works well with green but really sucks with most other color especially black and purple. Im glad they included this color, but I don’t use it very much.

️Basic purple Plus-Plus

How many things are purple? Thats a question I often ask my self with the basic purple color in my hand. Some flowers and ehmn. It’s not a super useful color and when my box of Plus-Plus is nearly empty I got a lot of purple blocks left. I don’t think I would really miss this color if it was not included in the basic pack. It works kinda bad or weird with a lot of other basic colors.

Basic black Plus-Plus

Basic black Plus-Plus, I use it all the time. I gives such a big contrast to the lighter colors, so I almost always use it for eyes. Come to think of most of my Plus-Plus builds on YouTube actually uses this color. It’s a color that gets pretty boring when used by it self, but combining it with others are really great. This is a color that are hard to replace, which is also why I have to give it top score.

Rating 5/5 ⭐

Basic white Plus-Plus

Basic white Plus-Plus is a lot like black, you can use it for a ton of things. Some examples snow, eyes, a lot of animals (bunnies, horses, snow owl, penguin, polar bear), wings, skies and many more things. I think it works better alone than black, just because it’s easier to see details, but if also use it less often than black. White is a must have for any Plus-Plus collector.

Conclusion

Plus-Plus basic tube with 100 blocks

The Plus-Plus basic mix is a great starter color theme. You can build a lot of things with it and have a great time building. It’s the mix with most colors and while some of them are weak, most of them are amazing. I can really only recommend this mix and if you can only have one then pick this!
